So it has been a while! This is the end of the 3rd week of Lurong, no problems eating clean, but I have not had any real challenges or temptations either. and I am eating a lot of bacon and a lot of beef 🙂 And nuts, I love nuts. So far I am down 5 lbs.,
Today’s WOD was all about rowing – you work with a partner and switch off so you row, rest, row, rest…. It started with 200 meters, then 400, 600, 800 and 1000, then 800, 600, 400 and 200. We did it in 55:19, last team done, but not by much!
Almost done with first fill week of the Paleo Challenge – going well so far. I think I am eating too many nuts for snacks though, gotta bring more apples and carrots to work. Feeling kind of tired and draggy this morning, didn’t go work out, even scaled, I think todays WOD is was beyond me. Lower back has been a little sore too – not the surgery site or anything that I think has to do with the surgery, just my lower back – probably form lifting weights! Going to try running today. It’s about 1/3 mile up to the main road from here, so if I can run/jog most of that and then walk some and then run/jog back that will be a good start 🙂 I do need to go buy some Larabars and unsweetened coconut at Wegman’s too!
Went to class on Friday and yesterday. Yesterday was Team Workout – I had a great partner, she is younger than I am and did Cross Fit before, but is just coming back after a year or so, so is not up to full capacity yet. She will probably be way ahead of me in another month, but that’s OK 🙂
I made a ton of meals today – Mashed Faux-tatoes from Practical Paleo – I put them with the leftover Italian sausage from yesterday; Brussels Sprouts and Bacon – will put that with pork tenderloin that I will cook tonight when I make our chicken for dinner. That’s a total of 8 meals, made a breakfast casserole http://ourfullplate.com/recipes/my-new-paleo-pork-sausage-veggie-and-egg-breakfast-casserole/ that is absolutely delicious – so got breakfast covered for the week and since there are 4 chicken leg quarters, there will be two for leftovers. I also have a package of hamburgers for 2 nights of dinner this week. Threw out the old hotdog and hamburger rolls that were in the freezer, the last of the sour cream (it was still good, but is a no-no during the Challenge) and we have 9 hard-boiled eggs and half-a dozen raw ones. I think I will be in good shape for food this week!
Trying to motivate myself to see how far I can run. so far 1/8 of a mile is it. It’s 1/3 up to the main road form the house, I am thinking I will try to go up and back at least every other day and see if I can run a little further each time. Unfortunately, the dogs really, really want to go for a walk and will think that’s what we’re doing if I put on shoes. Bill ran a bunch of errands and visited his parents earlier and has a few things to do before we can walk them. I want to assure them we will walk them, just not right now. I don’t think they’ll listen to me though….
First official Cross Fit class today! It went well. We did 2 minutes of jump roping (or 50 double unders, whichever you could do first) I cannot do double unders at all – finally stopped trying because all I was doing was whipping my shins, lol! The 40 Sit Ups, 30 Push Ups, 20 Hang Power Cleans, 10 Dead lifts (I used light weights since it was mu first class with barbells – good thing too because my form leaves much to be desired!) then back up to 20 HPCs, 30 PUs, 40 SUs and then 2 minutes of jump roping again. I did it in just over 20 minutes. It was actually a fun workout and I have felt more worn out after Boot Camp. I did use a 30 in box to do the push ups from; I can only do 5 from the floor!
Working on setting goals for the Paleo challenge. We get extra credit for working on up to 6 goals. I am thinking 1 goal would be weight/inches loss, 1 will be attendance (32 classes over the 8 weeks) and that leaves 4 fitness goals. One should be running a half mile or a mile continuously. Right now I can do 1/8! Another could be being able to do a double under. I will have to give some thought to the other two. I want good goals that challenge me, but don’t want them to be too hard or unreasonable.
I did 4 days in a row and am done with Boot Camp, woo hoo! Last night was brutal, Monday nights usually are. We did Slam Balls, Medicine Ball carries, Burpees, Kettle Bell Swings, Upside down Rows and Agility Ladders. Very cardio intensive. We also had to run during warm ups, although I am finding I am not quite as winded after the third one 🙂
Today there were only two of us and two instructors, so that was very cool 🙂 We did Jump Rope, Squats and Rowing, Kettle Bell Swings, Push Ups and Sit Ups. And no running in warm up ) Bill is making chicken breast on the grill, asparagus and salad for dinner, awesome!
I am giving myself a day of rest tomorrow, but have to go in for the meeting for the people doing the Paleo Challenge. Will do my first official Cross Fit class Thursday.
And Melanie – I remember you did Tough Mudder last year so you are waaaay ahead of me 🙂 50 is the next 40? Hell, let’s go for 30!
Did Boot Camp yesterday and the Cross Fit Fundamentals class. I was happy that I wasn’t too wiped out after BC, sweaty, but what else is new? 🙂 I also went to BC today – so two days in a row, yay me! I have two BC classes left on my membership, then will start doing Cross Fit. My plan is to go tomorrow evening and Tuesday afternoon and then start Cross Fit on Thursday. we’ll see if I can do 4 days in a row, lol! If not, I can go Wed evening. I had Bill take pictures of me yesterday, so I have before pics. The Paleo Challenge starts a week from tomorrow (9/15) and they will be taking pictures and measurements, but I wanted to have some of my own. Looking forward to starting although I will miss cheese and Diet Coke!
Good workout at boot camp, tiring, but that’s OK. We just got Chinese for dinner, I was too tired to make anything. Not the best choice, not the worst. The leftovers will be good on Saturday 🙂 I will plan ahead better in the future so dinner is either ready or would be really, really easy when I get home. I signed up for the Fundamentals class on Saturday – it is required before you start Cross Fit. It’s basic instruction on form and how to lift weights. One more week of boot camp then on to Cross Fit and the Paleo challenge! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas for the challenge to start!
